ShopSavvy Barcode Scanner

Shopping around for the best price can certainly be exhausting. That’s why we’re glad there’s a barcode scanner app to do it for us, and ShopSavvy is one of the best.

Like similar barcode apps out there, ShopSavvy Barcode Scanner (available for Android and iPhone) allows you to scan products from store shelves and compare them to other listed prices online. This app takes things a step further, though, by displaying a map with the nearest stores that carry the product and specifying if the store has it in stock.

ShopSavvy has some really helpful features, such as product reviews from other consumers, a wish list where you can save items, and an alert that notifies you of a price drop. Now that’s cool.

One minor complaint we have with the barcode reader app is that users are expected to hold the camera steady while it searches for a product. Most of the time, ShopSavvy found the item quickly and without issue, but on the rare occasion that a barcode was a bit more obscure or difficult to read, we spent an uncomfortably long period of time holding the phone in the same position.
