If the My911 Impact Detection app seems a little familiar, it may be because it’s supposed to mimic OnStar, detecting collisions and offering services in the aftermath of a car crash or other emergency. The app immediately calls 911 when a collision is triggered, and its GPS tracking can tell authorities your location immediately.
My911 comes with other bells and whistles, including a one-button notification system that sends out messages to predetermined loved ones, roadside assistance, alerts about the weather, security and traffic — including alerting you if you’re in a high-crime area. The only problem with the app is that My911 while offers impact detection, barring purposely crashing our car, we can’t say whether it works in a fender bender or not. This means that its $9.99 price, which is at the higher end of the app market, could seem like a lot to ask.
