If you have a paid subscription to the New York Times, the NYTimes app is a perfect one-stop shop for news. If you don't have a subscription and you aren't willing to part with the required cash ($15 per month for the smartphone app plus NYTimes.com package), you may want to try downloading a different news application.
Sure, you can try the free NYTimes app, but all you’ll be able to read is the top news section. That means you miss out on all of the fun, featurey, in-depth writing throughout the rest of the publication — like the sports, technology, health, travel, arts and style sections.
Cost aside, the app is great. It's like having an entire newspaper that's nicely designed and perfectly organized on your phone, without the inky mess of newsprint. If reading on a small screen hurts your eyes, you can always change the font size (options range from small to huge) — a nice touch.
