OpenTable
By OpenTable, Inc.
Overview
There’s a lot to love about this app, especially the fact that you no longer have to call restaurants in search of a table at the last minute only to be told by the snooty maitre d’, “No, we have been booked for weeks.

OpenTable is the mobile counterpart of OpenTable.com, a website devoted to making reservations at restaurants across the country. The app’s interface is clean and easy to use, and just like the site, it offers dining info and rewards points redeemable at participating restaurants.
You can search your current location or choose a new one, try for a specific date and time, and get anywhere from 20 to 100 results at once. You can then filter the results by cuisine, price, neighborhood and availability of points, and view your results using the map view. No table available within 2.5 hours of your chosen dining time? The app will offer up similar restaurants that can seat you. You also get addresses, phone numbers and cost per person. We decided to pick a hot sushi restaurant and were given the option of dinner at 5:30 p.m. or 10:30 p.m. — not exactly prime dining times. We decided to book the next night at 7:00.
The app doesn't cover every restaurant (although it says it covers 15,000), and it tends to have more offerings in larger urban areas. However, the app is especially useful on vacation because OpenTable also services international eateries, with restaurants in such diverse locales as Dubai, Hong Kong, the UK and Canada.
