This NCAA basketball tournament season, it’s time to move from the pen-and-paper stack of coffee-stained and frustration-crumpled bracket sheets and into the 21st century with a bracket app.

If you’ve attempted this modern method, you probably noticed that bracket apps are a dime a dozen (and are often free). Everyone from the big players (ESPN and Yahoo!) to your cousin Fred more than likely have developed a bracket app. Unfortunately, most of these apps are terrible.

Aesthetically, it’s hard to imagine a simple bracket to look worse than it is already meant to be. And even the sharp apps from big-budget developers have drawbacks, like being specifically geared toward only their March Madness bracket pools.

PocketBracket solves for these issues in elegant fashion. It’s among the most visually pleasing bracket apps. But more importantly, it’s very easy to keep track of all of your brackets. If you’re anything like us, you’re probably parlaying your pool-winning chances by participating in several bracket challenges, and, chances are, they aren’t all through the same service. PocketBracket doesn’t sync to all of these services, but you can create and save as many brackets as you’d like and flip through them on the fly.

It’s also easy to see the bracket as a whole, by region and by game. The regional view also features basketball teams' logos, which is a simple and oft-forgotten feature in bracket apps.

If you’d like to set up your own tournament pool, you can do so through the app, or you can join someone else’s and add it to your ever-growing list of differing outcomes.

PocketBracket may be a bit of an underdog when it comes to popularity status, but that’s just what this time of year is all about.
