If an RSS feed reader can be controversial, it’s Pulse News. Because of Pulse’s unique design, you’re either going to love it or hate it. Instead of showing just a whole bunch of text on the front screen like most readers do, Pulse’s design is heavy on pictures. Your subscriptions are laid out in a nice-looking grid, with a photo and super-short summary of each article. You’re not wrong to think the words seem to play second fiddle to the visual design.
What makes Pulse so great is how easy it is to use. As with all RSS feed readers, you need to start by customizing your feeds, and with Pulse, this is a snap. You can use search or the featured sources section. Google Reader addicts, you can simply import your subscribed feeds. Note: You can follow only up to 20 subscriptions, which is going to sound paltry to heavy RSS subscribers.
Social networking is also part of the picture, as you can share individual stories via Facebook, Twitter and email, and send them to your Instapaper account.
