Few apps are critical for keeping you on top of your work and connected while away from the office, but Quickoffice Pro is one of them.
Quickoffice Pro lets users import files via USB, spell-check documents and annotate PDFs. Price is the downside of the app, but when you’re reviewing and editing important business documents, you need a reliable tool to ensure that your files are edited properly and saved safely. Several smartphones already come pre-loaded with stripped-down versions of Quickoffice, which offer users the ease of creating or reading a Word document or downloading a PDF or PowerPoint presentation, but those versions lack Quickoffice Pro’s ability to create presentations and PDFs.
Quickoffice literally feels as if your PC has shrunk itself down to your smartphone’s screen. It has four colorful widgets for Word documents, spreadsheets, presentations and PDFs, which are respectively known in Quickoffice as Quickword, Quicksheet, Quickpoint and QuickPDF. (The app also gives you options to change your version of Word so it’s compatible with others’ computers or versions of Microsoft Office.)
Creating a Word document through the app works almost the same as if you created it on your computer. It starts with a blank screen, and then you can pick your font, alignment, text color or bullet points. However, the difference is that with a mobile phone, typing in text is definitely a science...and hopefully your eyesight can handle it.
Quickoffice Pro syncs with Google Docs, Dropbox, Box, Evernote, SugarSync, Huddle and MobileMe accounts. While Google purchased Quickoffice in June, we wait to see how the app will integrate more with Google products in the future and how it’ll stack up against other mobile companies’ productivity solutions, such as Microsoft’s Office and Apple’s iWork.
