We’re loving the bigger smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy Note II and the slew of tablets that are hitting the market, but the downside to large devices is the typing experience. Although most built-in keyboards are fully functional and accurate, they aren’t always within your fingers’ easy reach, especially if you have a larger tablet that you need to hold in your hands in landscape view.

Thumb Keyboard doesn’t just help with this—it solves the problem altogether, no matter what kind of Android you have. At its core, it’s a keyboard that you can split and move around until you find just the right configuration, but it’s a lot smarter and a more capable app than just that.

But let’s start with the basics: Thumb Keyboard gives you the flexibility to put a whole keyboard pretty much anywhere you want on the screen, or split it in half and move the parts to one side so that your thumbs will always be able to reach those pesky G and H keys. If you’ve ever held a 10-inch tablet, you know that’s a stretch.

That may not sound like a big deal, but if you’ve ever tried to type anything longer than a tweet on a tablet, you know that it gets tiring and uncomfortable fast, especially if you don’t have anywhere to set up or prop up the tablet.

Thumb Keyboard also offers auto-correction and predictive text that remembers your typing habits, customizable shortcuts and a text-to-speech feature that will read words aloud as you type so that you can focus on what you are writing.

Thumb Keyboard may not be the most exciting app, but remember that a device’s keyboard is one of the core components that determine how you interact with the device. Getting from thought to word to entry of that text should be effortless. If it’s not, you need Thumb Keyboard.
